Slain Powhatan teen’s father shot
One of two residents shot last week inside a Powhatan County home by men demanding cash was the father of Tahliek Taliaferro, who was slain during an unrelated shooting this summer, court documents show. Taliaferro father, Franklin Michaux, and his housemate, Anthony McKoy, were shot a week ago yesterday during an apparent confrontation with three males who were demanding money from both men, according to an affidavit to search the victims’ residence in the 4300 block of Three Bridge Road.

Harris’ jail term suspended
A former Powhatan County School Board member pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor drug charge yesterday and was sentenced to a year in jail, suspended. Germando Harris, whose drug-possession trial this year ended in a mistrial, was convicted yesterday of accessory after the fact to possession of cocaine. Harris’ jail sentence was suspended as part of the plea agreement, and he will be on probation for three years.

Ex-Powhatan school board member guilty of cocaine possession
POWHATAN—A former Powhatan County school board member whose drug possession trial earlier this year ended in a mistrial was convicted today of accessory after the fact to possession of cocaine. As part of a plea agreement, Germando Harris entered a no contest plea to the misdemeanor charge and was sentenced to one year in jail, all of which was suspended for three years.
Cousins to be tried together in Powhatan murder
The murder trial for two men charged with murder in the slaying of a popular Powhatan High School student earlier this year has been scheduled for March 18-20. Cousins Joseph and Ethan Parrish face a number of additional charges in connection with the June 24 shooting of Tahliek Taliaferro following a confrontation. Attorneys for Ethan today asked Powhatan Circuit Court Judge Thomas V. Warren for a separate trail, but the judge declined.
