Football: No. 1 Meadowbrook 44, Prince George 12  10/16/09 11:56 PM

Andre Coble rushed for four of Meadowbrook’s six touchdowns as the top-ranked Monarchs defeated the Royals (0-3, 1-5) in a Central District matchup. Coble finished with 11 carries on 181 yards, and was 3 for 6 passing for 85 yards. Domico Phillips made 13 carries for 101 yards for Meadowbrook (3-0, 6-0), which totaled 476 rushing yards.

Mark Negron-Boyle and the Colonial Heights’ defense mounted a one-foot goal-line stand in the fourth as time expired to help the Colonials notch a Central District win. Tyler Drewes worked 30 carries for 194 yards and TD, and Brandon Brown returned a pick 55 yards for a score for Colonial Heights (1-1, 3-2). Lawrence Taylor passed for two TDs for the Royals (0-2, 1-4).

Steele Driskill completed five touchdown passes, four to Ben Smith, and the Warriors routed the Royals. Driskill finished 6 of 11 for 139 yards, including a 68-yard TD pass to Smith. He also connected with Isaiah Cox on a 13-yard score. Jaquante King ran for a 4-yard touchdown to start things off for Matoaca (1-0 Central, 1-3), and Blake Roulo rounded out the scoring on a 13-yard run in the fourth.

Football: John Marshall 22, Prince George 20  09/26/09 12:26 AM

John Marshall’s defensive line sacked Prince George quarterback Lawrence Taylor in the end zone following a fumbled snap in the third quarter to give the Justices a nondistrict road win. Malcolm Bell passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns for John Marshall (2-1) and Josiah Shelton rushed for 95 yards and a score. Frank Bullock gained 92 yards on 19 carries. Bell connected with C.J. Shelton on a 45-yard scoring pass and Chris Morrow’s kick tied the game 20-20 before halftime.
