Festival of India to spice up downtown Richmond
There’s nothing quite like an old-fashioned Asian bazaar to remind you that variety really is the spice of life. And life is grand indeed when you can get all the spice you’d ever want under one roof. This weekend, you’ll find it at the Greater Richmond Convention Center. For 10 hours Saturday and 10 hours Sunday, the Festival of India will set up shop in the downtown facility, turning the cavernous building into Richmond’s version of a classic bazaar.

Volleyball Showcase: a splendid teaching tool
Wins and losses at the Virginia Volleyball Showcase matter. Sort of. “The best thing about this tournament is the learning,“ James River girls coach Micah White said. There was a lot of learning going on amid the victories and defeats at the Richmond Convention Center yesterday. More learning will go on today as 40 girls and 18 boys teams finish up the two-day event that has become a Labor Day weekend fixture for high school volleyball in Virginia.

Helping area’s homeless, body and soul
Joyce A. Clanton came to the Greater Richmond Convention Center yesterday to get help restoring her Social Security benefits. She left with a lot more. Clanton was one of 575 area residents who visited the second Project Homeless Connect, a clearinghouse of services and information for the area’s homeless.
