AMERICAN LEAGUE ROUNDUP ROYALS 3, TIGERS 2 (10): Josh Anderson scored the go-ahead run in the 10th on third baseman Ryan Raburn’s third error of the game, lifting Kansas City. Anderson reached on a dribbler down the third-base line, and David DeJesus followed with a grounder between Raburn’s legs. RAYS 5, BLUE JAYS 2: Gregg Zaun hit a pinch-hit grand slam in the eighth, leading Tampa Bay past Toronto. After Willy Aybar was intentionally walked to load the bases and pinch-hitter Gabe Gross struck out during a 10-pitch at-bat, Zaun sent a 3-2 pitch into the right-field seats. RANGERS 4, RED SOX 3: Ian Kinsler homered and drove in two runs, Dustin Nippert pitched six solid innings and Texas passed Boston in the AL wild card race. Kinsler, back in the lineup one day after he was hit by a pitch that ricocheted off his head, went deep and had an RBI single. INDIANS 7, TWINS 4: Kelly Shoppach and Luis Valbuena hit back-to-back homers, and Grady Sizemore added a two-run shot in a six-run third inning as Cleveland beat Minnesota. Sizemore finished with a pair of hits, a walk, two RBI and two runs. ANGELS 17, ORIOLES 8 (13): Torii Hunter celebrated his return from the disabled list by driving in the go-ahead run in a nine-run 13th inning, and Los Angeles outlasted Baltimore. Chone Figgins had four hits for the Angels, including the 1,000th of his career, an RBI single in the sixth. ATHLETICS 3, WHITE SOX 2: Mark Ellis lined a homer just over the left-field wall with two outs in the ninth, and Oakland avoided a three-game sweep against Chicago. Scott Hairston hit a tying double with two outs in the eighth off former A’s closer Octavio Dotel. MARINERS 10, YANKEES 3: Jose Lopez had three hits and three RBI and Seattle beat New York, ending the Yankees’ five-game winning streak. The Blue Jays got homers from Lyle Overbay and Adam Lind, and Jason Frasor recorded his sixth save. ORIOLES 16, ANGELS 6: Felix Pie became the fourth player in Orioles history to hit for the cycle, and Baltimore tied club records for extra-base hits and doubles in a rout of Los Angeles. Pie doubled in the first, homered in the third, then rounded out the feat during a seven-run seventh. TWINS 11, INDIANS 0: Scott Baker pitched a two-hitter, Jason Kubel homered and had five RBI and Minnesota beat Cleveland. Meche (5-9) gave up four runs on seven hits in five innings of his first start since July 11, and the Royals took two of three in the series. RANGERS 4, INDIANS 1: Scott Feldman pitched six sharp innings and Josh Hamilton had four hits, including a go-ahead two-run double, leading Texas over Cleveland. Chone Figgins added three hits for the Angels. YANKEES 4, BLUE JAYS 3 (11): Robinson Cano hit a game-ending RBI single in the 11th, and New York wrapped up a 6-1 stretch at home with a victory over Toronto. Cano also homered for the Yankees, who have won nine of 10 to move to a season-best 28 games over .500. ATHLETICS 6, ORIOLES 3: Landon Powell homered in Oakland’s four-run fourth inning, and the Athletics beat Baltimore to win a third straight series for the first time since April 2008. ORIOLES 3, ATHLETICS 2: David Hernandez outpitched Trevor Cahill in a duel between rookie right-handers, and Baltimore ended a nine-game losing streak against Oakland. Brian Roberts had three hits, an RBI and two stolen bases for the Orioles. YANKEES 7, BLUE JAYS 5: Hideki Matsui and Jorge Posada hit back-to-back homers leading off the eighth and New York beat Toronto for its eighth win in nine games.
