For a course that was easy as it can be, Tiger Woods sure made it hard on himself. Woods produced a pedestrian round in surprisingly calm conditions at Turnberry, making only three birdies and far more mistakes. He wound up with a 1-over 71, the first time since 2003 that he failed to break par in the opening round of the British Open.
