Relative of slaying victims opposes release of Briley brothers’ accomplice
A relative of three people killed by the Briley brothers gang has asked the Virginia Parole Board not to release the brothers’ accomplice when board members begin voting next week. “I have not healed, nor will I heal, nor will I forgive,“ said Robert Jones of Southlake, Texas, adding that he will travel to Richmond if that’s what it takes to make himself heard.

NONFICTION: A new look at the life of Booker T. Washington
NONFICTION In the pantheon of black American leaders from the past, Booker T. Washington is viewed by some as not having stood the test of time. Born into slavery in 1856 in Franklin County and freed when emancipation came in 1865, Washington developed a strong work ethic and a burning desire for self-improvement. This was the philosophy he preached when he became the head of Tuskegee Institute, now Tuskegee University, in 1881 and the most recognized leader in black America after the death of Frederick Douglass in 1895.
