You may have heard that every dog has his day. At Ruff House Dog Park, that day was yesterday. During Howl-A-Woof, the canine version of Halloween, animals and owners paraded their costumes in the dog section of Rockwood Park in Chesterfield County. Some dogs played dress-up proudly, while others appeared to avert their eyes in embarrassment.

The Armas family was on its way to church yesterday morning when they decided to spend the afternoon outside enjoying the unseasonably warm weather. The Chesterfield County family of five rode their bikes to Rockwood Park off Courthouse Road for some afternoon fun in the sun. The park was alive with the playful squeals of children, playing under the watchful eyes of adults.

The Chesterfield County Department of Parks and Recreation is looking for volunteers to join the Ruff House Dog Park committee. The committee will be made up of residents who want to promote a safe off-leash environment for their dogs to enjoy at Rockwood Park. Volunteers will be placed on a mailing list and will receive the meeting schedule for 2009.
