You’d better watch out—Santa’s gone cyber
Santa Claus and his elves have been accepting wish-list text messages at the North Pole. Through today, AT&T users can text Saint Nick their Christmas desires for free. Just text the word “Santa” to 1224—and wait. Santa will respond with one of a variety of messages like “Ho, Ho, Ho! Thanks 4 your txt! Please reply to this message and tell me your wish list. I will be sure 2 get back 2 u once the elves and I finish our dance class. Gotta slim down 4 those narrow chimneys, you know!“

A few of Santa’s favorite things
Long before millions of children around the world ripped into their presents this morning, jolly old Saint Nick was busy making a list and checking it twice. He planned flight details with Rudolph and directed teams of elves in toy-making tasks that provide North Pole residents with year-round job security. And let’s not forget those thousands of meet-and-greets with kids who wait hours to sit on his knee and spill their hearts’ desires.

At SPCA, children write letters for dogs and cats
The white cat mewed her holiday wishes. Caroline Umphlet listened. Ms. Claus the cat—no relation to the big guy—dictated a letter, which Caroline, 7, translated from muffled meows to modern English. “Ms. Claus wants a family and a home. Can she have a little toy, too? Can she have a great friend? Can she have a loving family?“

Christmas airlift offers rides, Santa
Pilots from the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Young Eagles Program will be giving free aircraft rides to children during the Christmas Toy Airlift on Saturday at Chesterfield County Airport. The rides will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. Children, ages 8 to 17, must have their parent or guardian present. The Virginia Chapter of the Ninety-Nines, the international women pilots’ association, are collecting new toys for families of military and wounded veterans during the Airlift.
