Seth Curry to transfer after one year at Liberty
LYNCHBURG—Seth Curry, the high-scoring younger brother of Davidson star Stephen Curry, says he is transferring out of Liberty to seek a higher level of competition. Curry, 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds, led the nation’s freshman with a 20.2 scoring average. Liberty went 23-12 this season, finishing with an 88-65 loss to James Madison on Monday night in the CollegeInsider.com tournament. Curry scored eight points in the loss.

Curry fuels Flames’ win in Big South tourney
Guard Seth Curry scored 30 points and Liberty turned back Gardner-Webb 88-77 last night in the first round of the Big South tournament in Lynchburg. Liberty (22-10) took control early as it ran out to a 22-4 lead on a 3-pointer by Kyle Ohman with 13 minutes left in the first half. The Flames led 37-14 on Anthony Smith’s free throw with 6:30 remaining in the first half.

Curry supplies Flames’ firepower
LYNCHBURG One night last fall, Seth Curry and two of his teammates walked back to their dorm at Liberty University after going to see a movie. Suddenly, a man popped out of the darkness and asked Curry for his autograph. The guy held an oversized action shot of Curry. “My cousin loves you,“ he said. An autograph seeker? This never happened to him before. To his dad? Sure. To his brother? All the time now. But Curry was just a few games into his freshman season and didn’t expect this type of attention.

State’s best? Liberty adds to its claim
They also came to witness what the Keydets faithful believe might be the next great VMI basketball team. The crowd, the first sellout in Cameron Hall’s 28-year history, was introduced to the players from VMI’s 1975-76 and 1977-78 teams at halftime. Those squads were a combined 48-10, with NCAA final eight and Sweet 16 appearances between them.
