There’s a lot going on in sports in the Richmond Times-Dispatch these days. We recently published our football preview section, filled with 18 pages of everything you need to know about the Redskins, state colleges and local high schools. If you missed it, you can find all of the previews at TimesDispatch.com. Then there was the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 last weekend, and three days of complete coverage leading up to the race and capping it with Manchester High School graduate Denny Hamlin’s first career Sprint Cup victory at Richmond International Raceway. If you couldn’t watch the race, we posted updates every 50 laps and announced Hamlin’s victory as it happened.

The end of the high school sports season is the perfect time to reflect and honor the student-athletes who grace our fields and sports pages for 10 months out of the year. The Times-Dispatch will put the finishing touches on its 2008-09 high school sports coverage at the end of this month and in early July with the naming of the All-Metro spring sports teams.
