Recruiting pitch a hit at Steward
Steward School doesn’t have a baseball field, but the western Henrico campus is oozing with talented baseball players. Three players off last year’s 21-2 club recently signed scholarship offers with Division I programs.

Collegiate tops Episcopal
Betsy and Katie Mastropieri each scored a goal to lift second-seeded Collegiate over No. 7 Episcopal 2-1 yesterday in the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division I field hockey quarterfinals. Liz Burton found the net for Episcopal to avoid the shutout.

Saints fall in first round
LYNCHBURG—No. 4 seed Liberty Christian scored twice in the second half, pulling away to a 3-0 victory over No. 13 St. Christopher’s in the first round of the Virginia Independent Schools, Division I boys soccer tournament. Seth Dorman connected in the first half, and Abass Ayembillah and Soho Choi scored in the second half to seal the victory. Brenden Doyle of St. Christopher’s and Gorgi Branov (Liberty Christian) each made five saves.
