Star Scientific changes its ticker symbol
Petersburg-based tobacco company Star Scientific Inc. has changed its ticker symbol on the Nasdaq stock exchange. Its trading symbol changed from STSI to CIGX as of yesterday, the company said. Star Scientific, a small company that makes smokeless-tobacco products, said the change is intended to better communicate its business goals. “The change in trading symbol reflects our intent to signal more prominently the company’s core mission and business, which is to reduce the harm associated with tobacco use,“ Paul L. Perito, the company’s chairman, said in a statement.
