Kaine says he will sign bill prohibiting text messaging while driving
Gov. Timothy M. Kaine will sign legislation that prohibits most text messaging while driving. Kaine this week told the Richmond Times-Dispatch that he intends to sign House Bill 1876, which easily passed the Virginia House of Delegates and Senate last month.

Va. Senate panel opposes texting by drivers
The Senate Transportation Committee yesterday approved a bill that would make it a traffic violation to text message while driving. The bill, which already cleared the House of Delegates, now heads to the full Senate. House Bill 1876, sponsored by Del. John A. Cosgrove, R-Chesapeake, would provide exceptions for the use of GPS devices and in the case of emergency vehicles.
