HIGH SCHOOL NOTES: VHSL proposing playoff changes
The Virginia High School League is in the process of shaking up its enrollment classification system that has been in place since 1970-71. The VHSL will present a proposal that will change the league’s division playoff format for sports and academic activities at the fall membership meeting in Charlottesville on Tuesday. The new format would replace the current classifications (Group A, AA, AAA) with a five-division state playoff format. If the change is approved, it would go into effect in the next redistricting and reclassification cycle beginning 2011-12.
