Demetrick Jackson rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown and added a second score on a third-period interception return to lead the No. 9 Knights past the Crimson Wave. Thomas Dale (1-0 Central District, 2-2) unleashed a ground game for which the Wave had no answer. The winners carried 46 times for 235 yards. Nine players carried the ball for Thomas Dale.

Medalist Clark helps Thomas Dale take district title
Freshman Griffin Clark shot a 4-over-par 75 to earn medalist honors and lead Thomas Dale to the Central District golf tournament title at Meadowbrook Country Club yesterday. Clark and teammate Buddy Donnelly (78) were two of only five players to break 80 in the sunny, blustery conditions. Tyler Hancock (77) and Michael Romig (79) of runner-up Matoaca and Viviana Perez (79) of Dinwiddie were the others.

Bird rallies for win
This Battle of Chester was a feast for the senses. There was linebacker Andrew Faison, ignoring the hard snap count, sniffing out the runner and shutting down Thomas Dale’s run game. On the other side of the ball, it was L.C. Bird’s Anthony Harris feeling around for a block, finding one, and breezing to a game-winning run for the No.3 Skyhawks, who delivered a 21-14 comeback victory against the No.5 Knights to a full house of rowdy fans.
