T.T. the Dinosaur might pass for a squirrel, but there’s no mistaking his pearly whites. The purple-and-orange stuffed toy was drafted yesterday to demonstrate proper tooth-brushing techniques to about 90 preschoolers at the Robert L. Taylor Childcare Center in Richmond’s East End. The Friends Association for Children, which operates the center and two others locally, organized Dental Day with the Capital Area Health Network in advance of Saturday’s Live Healthy Block Party at nearby Ethel Bailey Furman Park on North 29th Street.

Two-time Pro Bowl safety Rodney Harrison announced his retirement yesterday, saying he is through hitting quarterbacks after a 15-year career for the New England Patriots and San Diego Chargers. “I am done, and I am very much so at peace with that,“ he said in a conference call with reporters. “Football has been good to me. I’ve worked hard; I’ve played hard. I’ve done some things that I never dreamt I could do, and now it’s time to move forward to the next phase of my life.“

INDIANAPOLIS—Tony Dungy has retired after seven years as coach of the Indianapolis Colts, saying this was right moment. “These seven years have been better than I could ever have imagined,“ Dungy said at a news conference this afternoon. “I just have to thank everyone.“ He will be replaced by associate coach Jim Caldwell. Dungy, 53, has spent the past five years debating whether to leave football to spend more time with his family. He said he and his wife discussed the decision.
