Football: Louisa 40, Monticello 14
Louisa County shut out Monticello until late in the contest to come away with the 40-14 win. The Lions were led by Anthony Hunter’s three touchdowns as they improved to 6-3 overall and 4-2 in the Jefferson District. STANARDSVILLE—Led by Anthony Hunter’s 105-yards rushing and two TD’s, Louisa (3-1) amassed 396 yards on the ground in sprinting past William Monroe. Brandon Ornduff (5 tackles, 2 assists) led a stingy Lions’ defense, limiting William Monroe to just 23-rushing yards and 59 through the air. Elijah Payne was a perfect 7 for 7 kicking.

F1 race teams at odds over car designs
MELBOURNE, Australia—The Red Bull race team says it will lodge a protest at the Australian Formula One Grand Prix if the cars from rival teams Toyota, Brawn and Williams pass inspections Thursday amid concerns over the legality of their bodywork. The three teams are at the center of a dispute over their rear diffusers, the part of the bodywork that comes up from the undertray to disperse air from under the car.

Ex-football star, actor Bosworth charged with DUI
LOS ANGELES—Former NFL player-turned-actor Brian Bosworth has been charged with drunk driving after being arrested in Hollywood last Friday. City attorney spokesman Frank Mateljan says Bosworth was charged today with two misdemeanor counts in Los Angeles Superior Court. Mateljan says the former Seattle Seahawks linebacker was riding his motorcycle when police stopped him for not having a front license plate.

CAA men: Towson leads Drexel at the half
No. 11 seed Towson held the sixth-seeded Drexel Dragons scoreless for almost seven minutes in bolting to a 15-0 advantage and went on to take a 39-14 halftime bulge tonight in the final first-round game of the day in the Colonial Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament at the Coliseum. Junior Hairston had 13 points in the half and almost outscored the Dragons by himself. Teammate Jarrel Smith added 10 points for Towson, which shot 50 percent from the field (14 of 28). Drexel was only 4 of 23 (17.4 percent).
CAA Men: Hofstra leads UNC Wilmington at half
Fifth-seeded Hofstra made 6 of 12 shots from 3-point range in the first half and took a 39-29 lead over the No. 12 seed UNC Wilmington Seahawks at intermission of their first-round Colonial Athletic Association men’s basketball tournament game today at the Richmond Coliseum. Guard Cornelius Vines came off the bench to hit 3 of 6 from behind the arc for nine points to pace the Hofstra Pride, who connected on 53.3 percent (16 of 30) overall from the field in the opening half.

Motorsports notes: Johnson named best of 2008; Gibbs says match race is “gonna be ugly”
CONCORD, N.C.—Jimmie Johnson, the three-time defending Sprint Cup champion, repeated as the SPEED Driver of the Year today. Former Indianapolis 500 winner Mario Andretti presented the award to Johnson during NASCAR’s pre-season media gathering. Others receiving votes for the award were Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton and Cup runner-up Carl Edwards.

F1 teams agree to cost-cutting measures
LONDON—Formula One teams unanimously agreed to a series of cost-cutting measures today, including limits on expensive testing and a cheaper engine for smaller teams starting in 2010. They also vowed to continue slashing costs of the sport. The Formula One Teams Association agreed to the proposals—first announced by governing body FIA in December—at a meeting of its executive committee in London.
