Hillary Zell of state champion Collegiate is the player of the year, and Cougars teammates Katie Mastropieri and Janie O’Connor join her on the Virginia Independent Schools, Division I all-state field hockey team. St. Catherine’s, which handed Collegiate two of its three losses this season before falling in the state tournament final, placed Chaney Manganello and Sydney Schreiner on the all-state team.

Harry West’s 16 points, including the game-winning field goal at the buzzer, led No. 6 seed Evangel Christian to its victory over No. 11 seed Calvary Christian in the first round of the VISAA Division 3 state playoffs.
