Tech’s Luckett has two court hearings
BLACKSBURG—Virginia Tech football player Zach Luckett has two court hearings scheduled in the next two months to determine whether he violated the probation he received as part of a driving-while-intoxicated conviction last fall. Luckett’s status with the team has not yet changed, and he was at yesterday’s practice. Luckett was originally arrested last August for driving under the influence—his second such charge. (Luckett turned 21 last December.) Tech head coach Frank Beamer suspended him indefinitely. Luckett was convicted Sept. 25 and sentenced to a year in jail, with all but five days suspended.

It’s now or never for Hokies’ Luckett
a closer look BLACKSBURG Bud Foster thinks the familiar newcomer to his Virginia Tech defense can help the Hokies, as long as he stays out of trouble. Tech’s coaches plan to have redshirt junior Zach Luckett, who was suspended last season, back on the team as a walk-on this fall. They also plan to move him from wide receiver to whip linebacker, a position for which they initially recruited him.
