KELLI CANADA, WASHINGTON COLLEGE Sport: Junior volleyball middle hitter Local connection: James River Notable: Canada was named to the all-Centennial Conference sportsmanship team at season's end. She was named soon thereafter to her league's academic honor roll for the second time in as many years. She led her club in blocks (33).
ALYSSA LANG, MD.-BALTIMORE COUNTY Sport: Freshman volleyball outside hitter Local connection: Deep Run Notable: Lang was chosen as the America East rookie of the year after leading the Retrievers in kills (305) and service aces (41). She delivered 10 double-doubles and won eight rookie of the week citations, an America East record.
TREY THORNTON, LONGWOOD Sport: Senior soccer defender Local connection: Mills Godwin Notable: Thornton started 19 matches for the Lancers, who finished their season by winning the Atlantic Soccer Conference championship. Longwood allowed but one goal in its ASC playoff victories over Houston Baptist and Adelphi.
EDDY RATIANARIVO, RANDOLPH Sport: Sophomore soccer midfielder Local connection: Miller School Notable: Ratianarivo was named to the all-ODAC first team after a season in which he scored four goals and assisted on five. He delivered the game-winning goal in the Wildcats' 2-1 overtime conquest of ODAC foe Guilford.
