Biggs powers Hokies to win

BLACKSBURG -- Lindsay Biggs recorded 18 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead Virginia Tech to a 70-41 victory over George Mason last night.

Utahya Drye registered a double-double for the Hokies, scoring 10 points and pulling down 10 boards. Nikki Davis and Abby Redick added seven points apiece.

Ashleigh Braxton had 11 points and five rebounds for the Patriots, Brittany Eley added 10 points and three steals and Angelee LaTouche grabbed nine boards.

HAMPTON 71, WILLIAM AND MARY 66: Bernadette Fortune (eight assists) and Whitney Hill scored 17 points apiece to lead the Pirates to a come-from-behind victory over the Tribe. Jericka Jenkins added 15 points for Hampton. Jaclyn McKenna led William and Mary with 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Emily Correal added 13 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.


Top 10

NO. 3 OHIO STATE 92, WEST VIRGINIA 69: Samantha Prahalis had 14 points and 12 assists, and the Buckeyes (3-0) scored the first 17 points to roll past the Mountaineers (2-1) in the semifinals of the Preseason WNIT. Jantel Lavender led Ohio State with 19 points, and freshman Tayler Hill added 14. West Virginia got 23 points from Liz Repella.

NO. 5 NOTRE DAME 68, NO. 21 MICHIGAN STATE 67: Ashley Barlow scored 18 points and hit a tiebreaking free throw with 10 seconds left, lifting the Fighting Irish (2-0) over the host Spartans (1-2). Allyssa DeHaan led Michigan State with 20 points.
