WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - David Schneider had 16 points, including seven free throws in the final 35 seconds, and William and Mary held on to beat Wake Forest 78-68 last night.
The Tribe (4-2) scored all of their final 18 points from the foul line during the game's final 2:24.
Danny Sumner also scored 16 for the Tribe, who last beat a current Atlantic Coast Conference team nearly seven years ago. That 60-52 victory came on Dec. 7, 2002, at home against Virginia Tech, then a member of the Big East.
William & Mary led almost the entire way. The Demon Deacons (4-1) had their only lead at 6-5, and once Matt Rum converted two free throws about a minute later, the Tribe were out front.
C.J. Harris had 17 points and Al-Farouq Aminu added 11 points and a career-high 20 rebounds, but shot just 4 of 18 from the field for Wake Forest.

LIBERTY 63, TENNESSEE STATE 60: Kyle Ohman scored 23 points and Evan Gordon hit two free throws in the closing seconds as Liberty beat Tennessee (1-5) to earn fifth place in the Chicago Invitational Challenge.
Liberty (3-5) outscored Tennessee State 27-10 at the free throw line. Ohman was 13 of 16.
MISSISSIPPI STATE 69, OLD DOMINION 55: Gerald Lee scored 20 points and Ben Finney added 10, but Mississippi State beat ODU (4-2) to clinch third place in the South Padre Island Invitational.
Jarvis Varnado scored 15 points for the Bulldogs (4-2).
TULANE 76, GEORGE MASON 71: Cam Long scored a career-high 24 points and Luke Hancock added 14, but George Mason (3-3) fell at Tulane (2-3).
Down 74-71 with 15.4 seconds left, Long missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer.
JAMES MADISON 53, UMBC 51: Julius Wells scored 18 points and host JMU (3-2) defeated Maryland-Baltimore County (0-5).
The Dukes made only 1 of 3 free throws in their final two possessions, but the Retrievers failed to capitalize, missing two jumpers to end the game.
CHATTANOOGA 74, LONGWOOD 70: Antwan Carter and Dana Smith had 18 points each for Longwood (0-7), but the Lancers fell to Chattanooga in the seventh-place game of the South Padre Island Invitational.
Ricky Taylor scored 21 points to lead the Mocs (3-3).
WASHINGTON AND LEE 77, EMORY & HENRY 72: Zach White scored a career-high 27 points to lead the visiting Generals (1-0 ODAC, 3-1) past the Wasps (0-1, 1-3).
JD Dyson tallied 17 points and six for Emory & Henry. Terrance Grigg added 15 points and 11 rebounds.
EASTERN MENNONITE 79, VIRGINIA WESLEYAN 76: Todd Phillips scored a game-high 34 points in leading the Royals (1-0 ODAC, 6-0) past the host Marlins (0-1, 4-1).
Stephen Fields and Donald Vaughan scored 16 points apiece for Virginia Wesleyan.
SHAW 85, SAINT PAUL'S 67: Andrew Church hit four treys and totaled 20 points, but Saint Paul's (0-2 CIAA) fell to host Shaw (3-0, 3-0).
ROANOKE 80, STEVENSON 70: Parrish Walker notched 24 points and pulled down six board as Roanoke (3-1) beat homestanding Stevenson (0-6).
UNC PEMBROKE 97, APPRENTICE 71: Eric Joe posted 22 points for Apprentice, but the Builders (4-1) fell to host UNC Pembroke (3-2).
