Keith Gabriel scored a game-high 25 points to lead VMI to a 92-74 win over Winthrop in both teams' Big South Conference opener Wednesday night.
The Keydets (1-0, 5-2) received 23 points from Austin Kenon and 21 from Travis Holmes.
