NORMAN, Okla. - Devon Moore scored 17 points, including the go-ahead basket after James Madison squandered a 12-point, second-half lead and the Dukes beat Mississippi Valley State 62-54 Tuesday night in an NIT Season Tip-Off consolation game.

Moore had a driving right-handed layup to give James Madison (1-1) a 48-47 lead with 7:19 to play and the Dukes were able to keep the Delta Devils (0-4) at bay the rest of the game.

In other games:

LONGWOOD 85, GARDNER-WEBB 84: Ryan Bogan hit a free throw with five seconds remaining in the game to lift the Lancers (2-1) over the visiting Bulldogs.

  • VMI 118, MARYLAND BIBLE COLLEGE 72: Travis Holmes scored 23 points to lead five Keydets (2-1) in double figures in host VMI's victory over the Eagles (1-4).

    UNC ASHEVILLE 84, LIBERTY 56: Seth Curry had 18 points and preseason Big South player of the year Anthony Smith added 13 points for the Flames (0-1, 1-1), but they fell to the homestanding Bulldogs.

  • RADFORD 86, BRIDGEWATER 46: Artsiom Parakhouski scored 19 points to help the Highlanders (2-0) take a dominating win over the Eagles (1-2).
  • ELON 83, SOUTHERN VIRGINIA 55: Bryce Pendleton scored 15 points, while Ade Swann added 13, but Southern Virginia (2-2) fell to host Elon (1-1).
  • MARYMOUNT 64, GOUCHER 60: Mike Gray recorded his second straight double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds to help lead the Saints over Goucher.
  • VIRGINIA WESLEYAN 71, SALISBURY 47: Stephen Fields led Virginia Wesleyan to a win over Salisbury with 16 points and six rebounds.

    WOMEN

    Virginia Tech 78, Radford 54

    BLACKSBURG - Shani Grey recorded a career-high 17 points and led three scorers in double figures as Virginia Tech defeated Radford 78-54.

    Kymesha Alston, Charron Leeper and Johnette Walker each scored 11 points for the Highlanders (0-2). In other games:

  • UNC CHARLOTTE 69, HAMPTON 46: Chinyere Ukoh registered nine points and 11 rebounds, but the Pirates (0-2) fell to visiting UNC Charlotte (2-1).
  • MARY WASHINGTON 74, WASHINGTON AND LEE 43: Katie Clarkin connected on four 3s and had five steals in leading the Eagles over the Generals in their home opener.
  • VIRGINIA STATE 81, FAYETTEVILLE STATE 72: Katania Walker scored 15 points, Eugenna Carson and Angela Brown added 13 apiece, and Virginia State held off host Fayetteville State.
  • FERRUM 78, BRIDGEWATER 59: Tonya Wright racked up 24 points and 10 rebounds to lead the visiting Panthers (1-1) over the Eagles (0-2).
