Guard Rob Brandenberg has signed his letter of intent with the Virginia Commonwealth men's basketball team. Brandenberg, 6-2, is from Gahanna Lincoln High outside Columbus, Ohio.

"Rob is an explosive athlete who thrives in a fast-paced game," VCU coach Shaka Smart said in a release. "He handles and shoots it very well and has the ability to consistently make plays in the press."

VCU's other signee is 6-7 forward Reco McCarter from Goldsboro, N.C.

"We're extremely excited about the addition of Rob and Reco to our program," Smart said. "Both are multidimensional players that will thrive in our up-tempo style. Just as important, they are high character young men who will bring a terrific work ethic, on and off the court, to VCU."
