WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Jeff Teague scored a career-high 34 points to lead No. 4 Wake Forest past No. 3 North Carolina 92-89 last night.
Chas McFarland matched a season high with 20 points for the Demon Deacons, who remained one of three unbeatens in Division I and matched the 1980-81 team that also won its first 14 games.
Danny Green scored 22 points and Tyler Hansbrough added 17 on 3-of-12 shooting, and he went without a field goal in the second half for the Tar Heels. Wayne Ellington also scored 17 for UNC.
North Carolina shot 35.1 percent from the field to 47.5 for Wake Forest.
Former Benedictine star Ed Davis played 20 minutes for the Tar Heels, scoring four points, grabbing six rebounds and blocking three shots.
