Archer fuels W&M’s win

WILLIAMSBURG -- R.J. Archer threw two touchdown passes and rushed for another score to lead William and Mary to a 33-14 victory over Central Connecticut State on Saturday night.
Archer was 9 for 16 for 129 yards and one interception for the Tribe (2-0), which scored on four of its five first-half possessions.
Sophomore running back Jonathan Grimes had 80 yards on 19 carries and became the first player in Tribe history to reach 1,000 career rushing yards in 13 games.
James Mallory had 20 carries for 56 yards and two touchdowns for Central Connecticut State (1-1).
Other state games
LIBERTY 35, N.C. CENTRAL 10: B.J. Hayes rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown in Liberty's win over N.C. Central (0-2) in Lynchburg.
Hayes scored on a 74-yard run midway through the fourth quarter.
Aldreakis Allen, Mike Brown and SirChauncey Holloway each ran for touchdowns as Liberty (1-1) piled up 231 yards rushing.
ALABAMA A&M 31, HAMPTON 24: Kevin Atkins passed for two touchdowns and ran for another in Alabama A&M's win over Hampton (1-1) in Huntsville, Ala. Atkins completed 18 of 30 passes for 303 yards for the Bulldogs. He has passed for 535 yards and five touchdowns in two games this season.
Thomas Harris had 10 catches for 224 yards and two touchdowns for Alabama A&M (2-0).

No. 17 Utah 24, San Jose State 14
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Terrance Cain passed for 248 yards and hit Jereme Brooks for a go-ahead 51-yard score early in the fourth quarter, and Utah (2-0) finally shook free of San Jose State (0-2) late in its 16th straight win.
