Jackson’s case continued
CHARLOTTESVILLE -- University of Virginia football player Rashawn Jackson's case has been continued to Jan. 15.
Jackson, who faces two felony charges, had a hearing yesterday in Albemarle County General District Court. Two witnesses for the prosecution testified, but Jackson's attorney, Lloyd Snook, requested and was granted more time to gather evidence, said Elliott Casey, an assistant commonwealth's attorney for Albemarle County.
A redshirt junior from Jersey City, N.J., Jackson was arrested late last month by U.Va. police. They charged him with grand larceny and breaking and entering related to a Nov. 22, 2007, incident at a U.Va. dormitory.
Jackson, who was accused of stealing a video-game console, could also end up before U.Va.'s student-run honor comment.
The team's No.1 fullback, Jackson has continued to practice with and play for the Cavaliers. U.Va. plays its final home game of the season tomorrow against ACC rival Clemson. -- Jeff White
