L iberty at Charleston Southern

Records: Liberty 1-0 Big South, 4-2, Charleston Southern 0-1, 2-4
Facts: Liberty, which is ranked 23rd in FCS and has won 12 straight conference games, has won its past three games with Charleston Southern by a combined score of 126-30. The Flames lead the Big South in scoring (31.2 points) and scoring defense (16.7). The Buccaneers have won seven consecutive games at home.

VMI at Presbyterian

Where: Bailey Memorial Stadium (cap. 6,500), Clinton, S.C.

Presbyterian 0-1, 0-6
Facts: If VMI wins only one more game for the rest of the season, it should be this one. The Keydets beat Presbyterian 49-27 last season. The Blue Hose moved up to the Football Championship Subdivision in 2007 and are in their first year in the Big South after two seasons as an independent. It's been a rocky transition, as they have lost by an average of 25 points this season, with none of their games decided by fewer than 16. The Keydets need a victory after losing a heartbreaker last week, 27-20 at home to Stony Brook, which scored the winning touchdown with 52 seconds left and followed it with a two-point conversion.

Norfolk State at Florida A&M

Where: Bragg Memorial Stadium (cap. 25,500), Tallahassee, Fla.
When: 3 p.m.
Records: NSU 2-2 MEAC, 3-3; FAMU 2-1, 4-2
Facts: The Spartans come off last week's 46-6 pounding of Hampton, but FAMU leads this series 10-1. Rattlers' coach Joe Taylor was 13-3 vs. NSU while Hampton's coach. NSU will try again to get Chris Bell involved. The Penn State transfer made five catches for 108 yards and two TDs vs. HU. Bell ranks second in the MEAC in receiving yards (75.3 ypg). FAMU has one of the college game's most dynamic return men in LeRoy Vann, who has returned four punts for TDs this season. Rattlers QB Curtis Pulley leads his team in rushing.

S.C. State at Hampton

Where: Armstrong Stadium (cap. 17,000), Hampton
When: 2 p.m.
Records: S.C. State 3-0 MEAC, 5-1;
Hampton 2-2, 3-3
Facts: The Pirates lead the series 11-4, but the defending MEAC champion Bulldogs have won the last three games. Hampton junior linebacker Julio Sanchez made 12 tackles in a 44-6 loss to Norfolk State last week. SCSU junior lineman Jason Ayers was named MEAC defensive player of the week after making six tackles, three for loss, had one sack and forced a fumble in a 35-20 win over Florida A&M.

Old Dominion

at Savannah State

Facts: ODU has won consecutive games after losing two. Monarchs redshirt freshman wide receiver Nick Mayers has caught five touchdown passes. He is averaging 49.2 yards per game. Savannah State, a Football Championship Subdivision independent, has lost its past five games.

Bowie State at Virginia Union

Where: Hovey Field (cap. 10,500)

Facts: Virginia Union rang up a school-record 490 yards rushing last week . . . Bowie State shut out Saint Paul's 14-0 in the mud last week and a win will give the Bulldogs the division title . . . Bowie State won 14-13 in Maryland last season.

Virginia State at Lincoln (Pa.)

Where: Avon Grove High School (cap. 1,500), West Grove, Pa.

Records: VSU 4-4; Lincoln (Pa.) 3-5
Facts: The Trojans are coming off a 10-day break after Virginia Union walloped them 31-3 on national television. . . . In its last two games, both losses, Virginia State has totaled 17 first downs, 259 yards and three points on offense. . . . The Lions surrendered 140 points in its three-game losing streak, which included a 35-6 loss to Virginia Union.

Hampden-Sydney at Catholic

Facts: Catholic defeated Gallaudet 38-13 last week for its first victory of the season. . . . H-SC dropped two spots from No. 21 to No. 23 after last week's 38-31 win over Washington and Lee. . . . Catholic defeated H-SC last year 33-21, even though H-SC was undefeated and ranked No. 18 in the country. The loss eventually cost H-SC the ODAC championship. . . . QB Corey Sedlar (Mills Godwin) needs 730 yards to become the first H-SC quarterback to pass for 10,000. . . . Catholic is H-SC coach Marty Favret's alma mater.
