State roundup: Guilford ends R-MC streak

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Thaddeus Scruggs pounded out 115 yards on 23 carries, but Randolph-Macon fell to Guilford 20-13 yesterday, ending a five-game win streak.
Brandon Harrison had eight tackles and forced a fumble for the Yellow Jackets (3-1, 5-3). Earl Peoples added four catches for 84 yards in the loss.
Guilford's Billy Watkin led the Quakers (1-3, 2-6) with 35 completions for 378 yards and two fourth-quarter touchdowns.
On their second possession, the Yellow-Jackets drove to Guilford 7-yard line, but the Quakers' defense held and Randolph-Macon had to settle for a 27-yard field goal.
Austin Faulkner found Dwayne Jenkins in the end zone for a touchdown with less than four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, but the late rally wasn't enough.

CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT 28, FERRUM 14: All-American Tunde Ogun rushed for 106 yards on 32 carries and scored two second-half touchdown's, leading CNU (3-1 USA South) past homestanding Ferrum (2-3, 4-4).
Antonio Epps rushed for 127 yards and a TD for the Captains. Ferrum's Brandon Jackson had five tackles and an interception.
BRIDGEWATER 35, WASHINGTON & LEE 34 (OT): Hagan Driskell connected with Tyler Beiler on a 73-yard TD pass, and the visiting Eagles (3-1, 6-2) edged the Generals (2-3, 3-6).
Charlie Westfal threw 10 completions for 127 yards and two Touchdowns for the Generals.
AVERETT 24, SHENANDOAH 22: Dontavious Watson had 21 carries for 117 yards as Averett beat Shenandoah (0-5 USA South, 1-7).
Anthony Squillini hauled in five catches for 98 yards as host Averett (4-1, 6-2). Keone Kyle caught a 12-yard pass for a score for Shenandoah.
SAINT PAUL'S 16, LINCOLN 6: Alwan Lee scored on a 9-yard run, and Jerma Williams took a run in 14-yard-run for a TD as Saint Paul's (3-4) beat visiting Lincoln 1-6).
SOUTHERN VIRGINIA 40, RADFORD 20: Sam Trulock and Josh Barrett combined for 165 yards and five touchdowns as Southern Virginia breezed by visiting Radford.
EMORY & HENRY 13, CATHOLIC 10: Caleb Jennings scored on a 15-yard run to lead visiting Emory & Henry past Catholic.
WEBBER INTERNATIONAL 17, APPRENTICE 14: Bryan Cain caught two touchdown passes and returned a kickoff 32 yards for another score, but the Builders fell on the Road to Webber International.
