Randolph-Macon blanked visiting Emory & Henry (0-2 ODAC, 4-2)19-0 yesterday for its first shutout since 1999.

Thaddeus Scruggs rushed for a career-best 235 yards on a career-high 42 carries for the Yellow Jackets (3-0, 5-2), and Austin Faulkner completed 12 of 20 passes for 131 yards and two TDs.

The R-MC defense held Emory & Henry's Caleb Jennings, the ODAC's leading rusher, to 48 yards on 14 rushes.

Hampden-Sydney 38, W&L 31

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY -- Five former metro-area gridiron standouts helped lead the Tigers (3-0, 7-0) past the Generals in an ODAC matchup.

Kirk Rohle (Hanover) scored on a 3-yard TD run, Corey Sedlar (Mills Godwin) connected with Anthony Maucini (Benedictine) on a 40-yard TD toss, Sean Cavanagh (Clover Hill) scrambled 71 yards for a score and Will Riggenback (Clover Hill) helped lead the H-SC defense.

Ryan Welsh led the Generals' offense with nine catches for 156 yards.

N.C. Wesleyan 35, CNU 7

NEWPORT NEWS -- The Captains' only touchdown against the Bishops (3-0 USA South, 4-2) came on a 48-yard run from CNU's all-time leading rusher Tunde Ogun.

Ogun's 34 career TDs are the most in the program's short history. He finished the day with 131 yards on 27 carries for the Captains (2-1, 3-3) and surpassed the 3,000 yard mark for his career.

BRIDGEWATER 40, GUILFORD 9: Thomas Tate churned out 157 rushing yards, his fourth 100-plus yard game for Bridgewater (1-1 ODAC, 4-2), and the hometanding Eagles crushed the Quakers (0-2, 1-5).

SOUTHERN VIRGINIA 51, GEORGE MASON 12: Matt Mellor, Chad John and Dakoda Winsor had six tackles apiece, and the Knights held the Patriots to 19 yards rushing for their first win of the season.

GREENSBORO 27, FERRUM 24: Makya Jackson scored two TDs for the Panthers (1-2 USA South, 3-3), and Mike Vann had a 35-yard TD reception, but the Pride (1-2, 3-3) rallied for the win.

CUMBERLAND 27, U. VA.-WISE 20: Brad Robbins was 15 of 30 passing for 253 yards and two TDs, and Marcus Bratton scrambled 80 yards for a score on a punt return, but the Highland Cavaliers (4-4) lost to the visiting Bulldogs (3-4).

METHODIST 17, SHENANDOAH 14 (OT): Keone Kyle rushed 34 times for 167 yards for visiting Shenandoah (0-3 USA South, 1-5), but Tyler Mosko kicked a field goal in OT to give Methodist (1-2, 2-4) the win.

BOWIE STATE 14, SAINT PAUL'S 0: Saint Paul's (2-3 CIAA, 3-4) could muster only 16 yards rushing and 12 through the air in falling to host Bowie State (5-0, 6-2).

AVERETT 24, MARYVILLE 21: QB Philip Kwiatkowski connected with Jeremy Dixon for a 26-yard touchdown in the third, and the visiting Cougars held on for a comeback win over the Scots.

WESLEY COLLEGE 39, APPRENTICE 0: Jeremy Drayton recorded 10 tackles for Apprentice, but the Builders' offense stalled and visiting Wesley College won in a rout.
