Grading Virginia Tech’s three keys

Grading the three keys A+Pressure Jacory Harris. Tech's pass rushers chased Harris all afternoon. Rover Dorian Porch nailed him on Miami's fifth play, forcing a fumble and giving Tech possession at Miami's 11-yard line. End Jason Worilds plowed through right tackle Matt Pipho in the second quarter, sacking Harris on third down and 17. The game was essentially over at halftime, at which point Tech led 21-0 and Harris was 2 of 9 passing for 38 yards. B+Buckle down against the run. Miami relies on two tailbacks: senior Javarris James and junior Graig Cooper. James carried 14 times for 35 yards, Cooper 11 times for 55 yards. Tech's defensive coordinator, Bud Foster, was disappointed that his group allowed 200.3 rushing yards per game in the first three weeks. He demanded better this week. For the most part, he got it. AOffensive consistency. The Hokies had looked uninspiring against legit defenses this season. They gained 155 yards against Alabama and 287 against Nebraska. Yesterday, they gained 242 yards in the first half, during which they ran four plays that gained 20 yards or more. They had five such plays against Alabama and Nebraska combined. The Hokies finished yesterday with 370 yards (272 rushing) and five 20-plus plays.
