Virginia Tech's 2010 football schedule is complete. The Hokies announced yesterday that they will play James Madison on Sept. 11.

There was an open home date in the schedule, because Tech let Western Michigan bail out and accept an offer to play at Notre Dame next season. Tech and Western Michigan will now play in Blacksburg in 2016.

The Hokies are 6-0 all-time against the Dukes, who won the Football Championship Subdivision national title in 2004. All the games have been in Blacksburg. Tech won the last two meetings 43-0 in 2003 and 47-0 in 1999 - Michael Vick's first game. The Hokies last played an FCS team in 2008, when they beat Furman 24-7.

Tech's other nonconference games next year are Central Michigan (home on Sept. 4), East Carolina (home on Sept. 18) and Boise State (at FedEx Field in Landover, Md., on Oct. 2).

In 2011, Tech's nonleague games away from Lane Stadium are at East Carolina and Marshall. In 2012, the Hokies travel to Pittsburgh and play Cincinnati at FedEx Field. The Pittsburgh series concludes in Blacksburg in 2013.

Other future nonconference home-and-home series include: Ohio State in 2014 and 2015, Kansas State in 2014 and 2016 and Wisconsin in 2016 and 2017. - Darryl Slater
