DiVall, McGurn head to VSGA final

HOT SPRINGS -- Alexandria's Linda DiVall and Richmond's Boodie McGurn posted two victories each to reach today's 18-hole final in the 52nd Virginia State Golf Association Senior Women's Amateur Championship at The Homestead's Old Course.
DiVall registered a wire-to-wire, 4-and-3 quarterfinal win over Maggie Balch (Maidens) in the morning, then secured a spot in the championship with a 1-up victory over Cindy Morris of Portsmouth.
McGurn defeated two former champions. The Richmonder beat'06 champ Mimi Hoffman (Springfield) 1-up in the quarters before defeating'99 winner Fran Hensley of Ridgeway 3 and 2 in the semis.
In the semifinals, DiVall was 2-down through 11 holes against Morris, but won Nos.11, 12 and 14 to take a 1-up lead.
McGurn took control of the quarterfinal against Hoffman by winning Nos.15 and 16 to take a 2-up lead and held the lead the rest of the way.
The championship match is set to start at 9 a.m.
