No. 1 Cosby advances to final

Ben Morrison had 10 kills and Cameron Rust registered four blocks and six kills in leading No. 1 Cosby to a 3-1 win over Midlothian last night in the Dominion District semifinals.
Cameron Vaile also contributed six kills for the Titans, who advanced to play the winner of James River vs. No. 2 Clover Hill in the final.
Will Hanson paced the Trojans with nine kills, three blocks and two aces, Nick Walmsey added six kills and blocked four shots and Tim Boykov totaled seven kills and two aces.

No. 1 Deep Run easily defeated J.R. Tucker 3-0 paced by Suzy Rosser, with eight aces, Mallory Woolridge's 13 kills and Ashley Dintaman's 27 assists. The Wildcats advanced to play the winner of Hermitage vs. No. 2 Mills Godwin match.

Janie Goodman had three kills and two blocks and No. 1 Powhatan defeated No. 4 Park View 3-0. Ginna Tucker had eight digs and five kills and Brooke Strathy had 10 assists, eight kills and three aces for the Indians.
Powhatan will host the finals today, taking on the winner of No. 3 Bluestone vs. No. 2 Southampton. The Indians will also play Courtland in the quarterfinals of the regional tournament.

Despite four close games, Collegiate fell to St. Anne's-Belfield. Emma Damon had three blocks and three kills, Kali Newlen had six kills and two blocks and Christine Thexton had five kills and three blocks to lead the Couagars.
If Collegiate makes the state tournament, its next game will be Tuesday.

Caitlin Francis made 10 kills and seven aces as Essex defeated Lancaster 3-0 in the semifinals Tuesday night. Molly Muse totaled 17 digs and Kelsi Baughan had 14. Blair McMahan added nine assists for Essex, which faces Northumberland for the championship today.

Austin White scored two first-half goals in leading second-seeded Richmond Christian to a 4-1 win over No. 3 Christchurch. Joshua Estrada and Mark Lantz added a goal apiece to round out the scoring. Donny Lee netted a goal for the Fighting Seahorses.
Zach Marino recorded a hat trick, then scored again to lead top-seeded Steward past No. 4 Amelia Academy 6-1. Chris Hughes scored Amelia's lone goal. Steward will face Richmond Christian in today's title match.

CROSS COUNTRY
Richmond Christian placed six runners in the top 10 and ran away from the rest of the field at the Virginia Commonwealth Conference boys meet last Thursday.
RC's Michael Glur finished first in 18:32, nine seconds ahead of Fuqua's Brandon Ah. Fuqua was second.
On the girls side, Dalton Kuhar of Fuqua won in 20:18, but Tanner Roe's third-place finish (21:00) led Steward to the team title over Blessed Sacrament Huguenot. Kelsey Talmadge (22:41) of BSH was fourth.
