Girls: L.C. Bird 72, Manchester 58

Ruthanne Doherty scored 11 of her 26 points to spark L.C. Bird's dominant first half, and the second-seeded Skyhawks defeated No. 3 Manchester 72-58 last night in the Dominion District semifinals.

Porscha Walton had seven of her 10 points also before the half, and Doherty recorded 14 rebounds to go along with her game-high points. Toya Ricks added 12 points for the Skyhawks, and Barbara Sitton tallied 11 assists and six steals.

Porche Bentley powered the Lancers with 23 points, eight rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Brianna Wallace contributed 11 points and four assists.

L.C. Bird will travel to Cosby tomorrow at 6 p.m. where the two will compete for the district title.
