Girls: Meadowbrook 76, No. 6 Manchester 62
Meadowbrook spent the fourth quarter at the foul line and eliminated sixth-ranked Manchester from the Central Region tournament.
The Monarchs, playing at home as the second seed from the Central District, shot 30 of their 34 free throws in the fourth quarter. Crystal Smith, who scored a game-high 35 points, was 16 for 18 from the line in the quarter.
Trailing by double figures at the time, the Lancers began fouling with about five minutes left in the game. Smith also had all of Meadowbrook's 3-pointers (four) and handed out eight assists.
Katrina Marks scored 13 points and hauled in 11 rebounds for the Monarchs, who travel to Mills Godwin for tonight's quarterfinal matchup.
Porche Bentley played her last game as a Lancer and finished with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Brianna Wallace (15 points), Lauren Barnett (12) and Jessica Clanton (11) also scored in double figures for Manchester.
