Girls Athlete of the Week: Dominique Meeks, Collegiate
What she did: The Cougars' do-everything leader averaged 16.7 points and 12 rebounds in victories over St. Gertrude (52-50), St. Catherine's and Norfolk Academy (49-48). She also was credited with 16 steals. Against St. Gertrude, she became the first Collegiate player, boys or girls, to score 1,000 career points. Age: 17 Three words your friends would use to describe you: "Loud, energetic, reliable." Strengths: "Defense, rebounding, leadership." Toughest opponent other than yourself: "My mom. She always tells me what I'm doing wrong." I'm working to improve: "My offensive game and foul shots. Everything."
