Elaine Derricott scored 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead seventh-ranked Henrico past Varina in a Capital District contest.

Five Henrico players scored in double figures. In addition to Derricott, Bria Harris had 14 points, Jamia Cox and Bria Robinson contributed 12 points each and Ashlee Freeman chipped in with 10. The Warriors tied for second in the district with Hanover and Highland Springs, necessitating a coin flip for tournament seedings.

Ranika Dunaway led Varina with a game-high 17 points and three steals.

Did you know that on Fri. Elaine Derricott placed 2nd in the Shot Put and High Jump, won a heat of the Hurdles, then played basketball against Varina scored double figures,then on Sat. won the Hurdles and Triple Jump and ran the 1st leg of the 4x200 relay(2nd place)?  Isn’t that something?
