Calvin Ruiz scored 16 of his 22 points in the first half as Hopewell held off Central District rival Thomas Dale, ranked No. 8 in the Times-Dispatch Top 10 Poll, for a 77-72 victory last night.

Pedro Berrios led the host Blue Devils with 23 points, and Milton Gholson had 19.

The Knights got 23 points from Andrew White. Michael Simms scored 21 and Aaron Epps had 10.
