Hillary Zell of state champion Collegiate was named is the Virginia Independent Schools, Division I player of the year.

Hillary Zell of state champion Collegiate is the player of the year, and Cougars teammates Katie Mastropieri and Janie O'Connor join her on the Virginia Independent Schools, Division I all-state field hockey team.

St. Catherine's, which handed Collegiate two of its three losses this season before falling in the state tournament final, placed Chaney Manganello and Sydney Schreiner on the all-state team.

Ryland Scott of Steward was named to the Division II team.

Michael Howard of Collegiate and Alex Smith of Episcopal shared player-of-the-year honors on the Virginia Independent Schools all-state boys soccer team.

Episcopal defeated Collegiate on penalty kicks to win the state championship.

Andrew Elliott of Collegiate and the Benedictine pair of Matthew Reardon and Jonathan Reardon were all-state team selections.

Brenden Doyle and Drew Pangraze of St. Christopher's were named to the second team.
