Josh Wells was 7 of 10 passing for 119 yards and a TD, and he tallied 62 yards on nine carries to lead the Rapids over the Trojans in a Dominion District showdown.

Wells' twin brother Jesse led the James River offense with nine tackles and a blocked extra point attempt.

Midlothian (0-1, 0-2) got off to a good start with Charles Poindexter's 6-yard TD run in the first quarter, but James River's Matt Brooks (3 carries, 73 yards and a TD) twice picked off Jimmy Whitten (15 of 30 for 148 yards) to slow the pace.

Calvin Jefferson had three receptions for 66 yards and a TD for James River (1-0, 2-1), and also had a 40-yard TD reception called back because of a holding penalty.
