Deane Cheatham ran for two touchdowns and the Hawks defense forced four turnovers in the second half to lead the Hawks past the stubborn Patriots.

Behind Jayrin Waller's 62-yard touchdown pass to Kenny Mock Patrick Henry (0-1) led 10-7 at the half.

Cheatham ran for 101 yards on 20 carries and gave Hanover (1-0) the lead for good with a 4-yard touchdown run in the third and added to the lead with a 1-yard plunge in the fourth quarter.

Hanover's defence took over from there. Marzae Brooks intercepted a Waller pass and went 40 yards for a score. Xavier Crocker followed that with a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown. The Patriots committed six turnovers in the game.
