Football: Highland Springs 27, Huguenot 6

Jaquan Burchette's two scoring passes in the first quarter helped the seventh-ranked Springs take control of its non-district game with the Falcons.

Burchette opened the scoring for Highland Springs (4-1) with a 14-yars strike to Wyatt Johnson. Huguenot (2-3) tied it when Trevor Williams hit Mario Williams on 25-yard touchdown pass.

Burchette (8 of 9, 114 yards, 3 touchdowns) connected with GeVonn Young on a 14-yard score to put the Springers ahead for good and tossed another scoring pass to Marcellus Carter to end the first half. John Saunders led the ground attack with 89 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.

Deontra Morris intercepted two passes and led a dominant defensive effort for the Springers, who held the Falcons to 32 yards rushing and 69 yards total offense.
