Football: Varina 62, Armstrong 20

Varina ran away from Armstorng -- literally. The Blue Devils amassed 578 yards on the ground in their victory over the Wildcats. Trey Johnson rushed for 266 yards on 11 carries and scored four times as Varina remain undefeated in the Capital District at 5-0. The Blue Devils improved to 8-1 for the season. Breon Jones had six tackles (three for loss) as Varina scored on five of its first seven plays from scrimmage.

Xavier Gary went 11-for-36 for 215 yards and three touchdowns for Armstrong which fell to 1-7 overall and 0-5 in the district. The Wildcats were held to minus-5 yards of rushing.
