Midlothian girls win state cross country meet

THE PLAINS Midlothian High School repeated today as the AAA girls champions in the Virginia High School League's cross country competition.

Midlothian had three runners finish in the top 15. Kathleen Lautzenheiser, the 2007 champion, finished second; Amy Witt was eighth and Paige Johnson crossed the line 12th.

Richmond's Maggie Walker Governor's School girls finished second to Midlothian in the AAA competition that drew schools from across Virginia.

In the boys competition, Henrico County's Douglas Freeman High finished third and Hanover County's Atlee High finished fifth. Atlee's Ben Dejarnette, the Central Region champion, finished second. Ted Richardson, running for James River High School in Chesterfield County, finished sixth.
