Softball: Essex tops Arcadia 2-1 in region finals

Eboni Veney drove in the game winning run to lift Essex over Arcadia 2-1 in the finals.
With bases loaded in the 7th inning and no outs, Lacey Berry hit a sacrifice fly to score the tying run. Veney then singled in the next run. She finished 2 for 4, and Chelsea Davis was 1 for 3 with a triple for the Trojans.
Essex will play at home Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the state quarterfinals.
