St. Anne’s Bellfield 3, St. Gertrude 1

In the opening round of the LIS girls volleyball tournament, St. Anne's Bellfield's offense was too much for St. Gertrude as the Saints pulled out a 3-1 win over the Gators.

The Gators (10-12) were led by Haley Metcalfe's four aces, 12 kills and six digs. Sarah Green chipped in nine digs and Sarah-Davis D'LaLonde (three aces, three blocks).

After dropping the first game to the Saints 29-27, St. Gertrude tied the match at 1-all with a 25-23 win. However, after a close 25-22 Game 3, the Saints put the match away with the 25-16 Game 4 victory.

St. Anne's Bellfield advanced to the next round and hold a 10-6 record.
