ANNE LUTKENHAUS, MARY WASHINGTON Sport: Volleyball Local connection: Senior from Douglas Freeman Notable: The Capital Athletic Conference named Lutkenhaus its player of the week after her performances in league wins over York and Gallaudet. UMW's outside hitter delivered 13 kills and 16 digs against York and 19 kills and 15 digs against Gallaudet. BRYAN WHARTON, HAMPDEN-SYDNEY Sport: Soccer Local connection: Sophomore from Deep Run Notable: Wharton, a midfielder, established a Hampden-Sydney single-game record by scoring four times in the Tigers' 5-1 victory over Roanoke. He was subsequently named the ODAC player of the week. Wharton tied for the ODAC's regular-season goal-scoring title (14 in 18 matches). LINDSEY ROWE, GEORGE WASHINGTON Sport: Soccer Local connection: Sophomore from Mills Godwin Notable: Rowe, the Colonials' goalkeeper, was an Atlantic 10 co-player of the week after consecutive shutouts in victories over St. Bonaventure and Duquesne. She made 10 saves in the two matches. The shutouts were the ninth and 10th of her career. JAMES GOODWILLIE, VMI Sport: Swimming Local connection: Sophomore from Mills Godwin/NOVA Notable: Goodwillie was a VMI co-athlete of the week after three individual victories in the Keydets' recent dual-meet triumph over Pfeiffer. He won the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.38), the 100 backstroke (55.10) and the 400 individual medley (4:23.13). WILL RIGGENBACH, HAMPDEN-SYDNEY Sport: Football Local connection: Junior from Clover Hill Notable: Riggenbach, a 6-1, 230-pound defensive end, leads the ODAC and ranks third in NCAA Division III with 10.5 sacks for 73 yards in losses through the unbeaten Tigers' first eight games - an average of 1.31 sacks per game. He is tied for fourth on the club in total tackles (36). CALLIE ARMISTEAD, CHOWAN Sport: Volleyball Local connection: Freshman from Deep Run Notable: The CIAA named Armistead its volleyball rookie of the week after the Hawks' setter led her team to three victories, two of which came against CIAA Western Division foes Johnson C.
