Vikings still don't know Favre's intentions
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Eventually, the Minnesota Vikings will need to know: Is Brett Favre going to play or not?
The Vikings aren't showing any public impatience with the NFL's all-time leading passer, even though Favre's annual waffling over his retirement continues to cloud preparations for the season. Training camp starts in seven weeks.
Even the uncertainty at quarterback -- will it be Tarvaris Jackson, Sage Rosenfels or Favre? -- isn't enough to get coach Brad Childress to declare an end to the will-he-or-won't-he dance that's gone on for weeks.
"Do I need clarity on it? Again, it's hard to speculate," Childress said, reiterating yesterday he had set no deadline for Favre to decide.
Skins' Landry shows at end of practice
ASHBURN -- Washington free safety LaRon Landry made a cameo appearance at practice -- taking part in the last one before the Redskins broke for vacation. He has been absent and out of touch for much of the spring.
Coach Jim Zorn said he was surprised when Landry suddenly appeared in the office Wednesday. The two met for 15 to 20 minutes to clear the air, with Landry having to explain why he had not been returning the coach's calls.
Spring practice sessions are voluntary, but only a few players are absent from any given session. Coaches use them for teaching the play book and to help develop timing among the skill positions. Yesterday was the last practice for the Redskins before the team reconvenes for training camp July 29.
